Come visit or come stay!

Discover NYS black walnuts, North America's native walnut.

Our farm is open for tours and visits starting May 22, 2024.

Want to learn about black walnuts, their place in the landscape and how we get them from tree to table? Take our guided outdoor black walnut tour. Come hear the story of a tree that doesn’t grow in the woods and how it fits into our landscape. Consider the black walnut tree from a whole new perspective, learn about the history of black walnut processing, see our own approach and taste them yourself. Black Squirrel Farms is the home of the first licensed black walnut processing facility in NYS. Come experience how we are making this unique North American renewable resource more accessible, useful and appreciated. Tours are outdoors, last 45 minutes and include a chance to crack and maple-glaze your own black walnuts. Additionally, our tour guests are welcome to spend as much or as little time exploring our self-guided site activities. Create a black walnut craft, make s'mores, learn how to estimate the age of a tree, play corn hole, look at found things under a microscope and more! We've got something for everyone.

Access to our self-guided activities without the guided tour is also available through our Black Squirrel Farms Day Pass. Because all of our activities are outdoors, both Guided Tours and Day Passes may be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather and will be refunded if rescheduling is not possible.
